Questions about the ECO4 scheme

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) is a government-backed scheme designed to help low-income, vulnerable, and fuel-poor households improve their energy efficiency. It legally requires medium and large energy suppliers to fund the installation of energy efficiency measures in homes in England, Scotland and Wales.

Eligibility is generally based on receiving certain government benefits (such as Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Income Support, etc.) and living in a property with a low Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating. Fill out our eligibility checker to see if you may qualify.

Usually not. ECO4 is paid for by energy suppliers, and for most eligible households the survey, equipment and installation are fully funded. Ofgem is clear that ECO is not a grant scheme: energy companies decide which projects to fund and how much, and in some cases you may be asked to contribute to the cost of the installation. If that happens, Ofgem encourages you to shop around.

From the time you submit your enquiry to the actual installation, it typically takes 2 to 4 weeks. This allows time for eligibility checks, the home survey, and scheduling the installers at a time that suits you.

All installations are carried out by our network of highly qualified, TrustMark and PAS 2030 certified professionals. They are fully insured and adhere to the strictest safety standards.

Private tenants can apply, but you will need permission from your landlord before any work can take place. Housing Association or Local Authority tenants should check our form, as eligibility criteria can differ slightly.

Don't worry. Our team can check your Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating on the national register for you when you submit your enquiry.

ECO4 funding is paid by the energy supplier for the work on your home. No money is paid to you. If you are unsure how a change could affect your claim, check with the office that pays your benefit.

Yes. We take data protection very seriously. Your information is processed securely, complies with UK GDPR, and is only used to determine your grant eligibility and arrange the installation.

One of our friendly team members will review your information. We will then call you at the preferred time you selected to confirm a few details and discuss the next steps. If eligible, we'll book your free survey.
